Ray Kurzweil is no stranger to controversy. His methods and ways of thinking aren’t widely accepted… but they certainly are interesting.
According to Wired.com, Kurzweil “is attempting to travel across a frontier in time, to pass through the border between our era and a future so different as to be unrecognizable.” Kurzweil refers to this border as “the singularity.” This idea of a border is taken from cosmology, which refers to a border in spacetime for which the typical rules of physics and measurement don’t apply .
By using his Theory of Singularity, Kurzweil has come up with the TRANSCEND program, which is designed to help us live forever . You may balk at such a weighty statement, but keep in mind that Kurzweil has quite an impressive track record of predicting the future. For the year 2009, he made 108 predictions. A staggering 102 of them came true. So pay attention to his TRANSCEND theory – it might just be the key to living forever.
Here are the nine steps of the TRANSCEND program:
1. T – Talk to Your Doctor
Kurzweil believes that the first step to living a long life is to keep an open line of communication with your doctor. Preventing disease is far more important than curing it; as Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” By opening up communication with your general physician and being totally honest and upfront about your symptoms, history, and other important medical facts, you can play an active role in disease prevention.
2. R – Relaxation
The second step to living forever? Getting enough rest. Did you know that stress is linked to a shorter lifespan and disease? We all encounter enormous amounts of stress in our daily lives, and in order to live a long life, it’s essential that we learn to manage our stress and reach a level of relaxation. Evaluate your lifestyle and see what you can do to reduce the stress that you undergo day in and day out. And be sure to get plenty of sleep! Get at least seven hours of sleep each night; deep sleep is essential to recharging your body and providing you with energy, which can both help you to deal with stress.
3. A – Assessment
As we said before, disease prevention is extremely valuable. Furthermore, early detection of disease is important to living longer. It’s imperative that you take a moment to assess your current lifestyle and ensure that you’re doing all you can to both prevent disease and ensure that if disease is present, it is detected early. Be sure that you do the following:
- Breast self-exam (women)
- Testicular self-exam (men)
- Regularly check your blood pressure, heart rate, and body composition (how much fat you have and how it is distributed)
4. N – Nutrition
Diet is a very important aspect of staying healthy. Here are a few tips on how to maintain a healthy diet:
- Eat plenty of high fiber foods, preferably in their raw state.
- Opt for plant proteins such as miso, nuts, lentils, seeds and tofu
- Opt for healthy fats, such as those found in nuts, olive oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil and hempseed oil.
- Replace sugar with natural sweeteners, such as raw honey or vanilla extract. Avoid high fructose corn syrup or any products with HFCS in it.
5. S – Supplements
Because of the typical American diet, the majority of us don’t get as many nutrients and vitamins as we need. This is why taking supplements is so important. It’s not recommended that you take a generic one-a-day because even these multivitamins don’t have enough of the nutrients you need. Instead, opt for a liquid multi-vitamin to help ensure you absorb the proper nutrients. Additionally, take an Omega-3 supplement, a vitamin D supplement, probiotic supplement and a supplement rich in antioxidants such as grape seed extract or alpha lipoic acid.
6. C – Calorie Reduction and Weight Loss
The American obesity epidemic has spiraled out of control. Visit your doctor and assess your weight-where do you fit in? Are you overweight or obese? Once you find your goal weight, take the steps to reduce your caloric intake. Here are some tips to reducing calories:
- Eat foods that have high levels of fiber but low calories
- Balance fats, carbohydrates, and protein
- Use an online site or phone app to track calories and nutrients
7. E – Exercise
Ah, exercise-the partner to diet and calorie reduction. Did you know that regular exercise has actually proven to fight stroke, strengthen bones, tone the body, lower cholesterol, and boosting your brain? It’s recommended that you exercise at least three times a week and that you integrate three types of exercise into your regimen: aerobic, strength and flexibility.
8. N – New Technologies
Believe it or not, new technologies may actually give us the tools we need to cheat death and live forever. Biotechnology is moving to a point where we can eliminate or reduce cancer, lengthen cellular life, replace worn-out organs, and take care of damage caused by aging. Once we begin using nanotechnology to create materials such as computerized DNA, the magic will really start to happen.
9. D – Detoxification
You are constantly surrounded with toxins that are absorbed into your body through the air you breathe, the water you drink, and the food you eat. By following a detoxification process such as Oxy-Powder colon cleanser, you’re able to flush the toxins out of your body and be sure that your organs are performing efficiently. After your initial colon cleanse, it is recommended to then move on to a liver cleanse.
